Fortunately I quite enjoy meetings because this week was full of them!
We had zone conference from 8:30-3:30 on Thursday and then got to go
to the adult session of stake conference Saturday plus stake
conference on Sunday! Which also meant a lot of driving because all of
those meetings were in East Brunswick which is an hour away.
Some things that stood out to me from the meetings:
Zone conference:
5 Stages of Spiritual Progression (the 'why" behind what we do)
1. Fear. You do it because you are afraid of punishment if you don't.
2. Tradition. You do it because everyone does it.
3. Achievement. You do it because it makes you feel good. (Letter of the Law)
4. Purpose. You do it because you want to make a difference and you
know blessings will come. (Spirit of the Law)
5. Unity. You do it because your will is in line with God's will.
Stake conference:
A lady compared aspects of the military to our lives in the gospel.
Boot camp is so hard because it is meant to prepare soldiers to handle
anything the enemy might through at them. (Pres. Taggart always calls
the mission boot camp for life). discouragement is one of the major
weapons the adversary uses. We combat it with faith in God's power to
help us accomplish His will. Spiritual combat readiness!
The stake relief society president talked about how we all have times
when we feel like strangers. She was the first Chinese baby born in
Blackfoot Idaho and doesn't speak Chinese and so there have been many
times where she has felt like a stranger in both communities. By
remembering that we all have times that we feel like strangers we can
find ways to help other people feel like "our people".
Those are just a few of the things that stood out to me, but it was
definitely a week of feasting on the word! I also went on two
exchanges with some amazing Sisters this week (Sister McAllister and
Sister Perkinson), so that was wonderful! I absolutely love being a
sister training leader because I have so many opportunities to be an
instrument in the hands of the Lord and see him work through me. Plus
I get to spend time with and learn from so many sisters!
What else...I almost got my hand/head bitten off by a 230 lbs. English
Mastiff who wasn't quite as friendly as his owner said he was! Good
times :)
Love yous!
