We had Mission Leader Council this week, and that is one of my favorite parts about being a sister training leader! We get to be trained by our mission president and the assistants about the things they feel the mission needs to work on in the coming month. Our focus this month as a mission is finding father-led families, and specifically self sufficient father-led families that will stay in NJ and build up Zion here. The problem is that most of the families led by worthy priesthood holders here are originally from the west and are just in NJ temporarily for work. So we are praying hard to find them because that is what the church in Jersey needs!
We might have found one this last week actually! We met a woman named Herminia and her husband was actually taught by missionaries years ago and his parents and one of his brothers got baptized! It seems like she has a very positive view of the church and she is very willing to meet with us this week when her husband and kids can be there! So please pray for Herminia and Hector and their family! We also found a new investigator named Brian. He was given a Book of Mormon years ago and read part of it and then gave it away to someone that he felt needed it more. So he was very excited to talk to us and to get his own copy again! He is a super nice guy but very shy, so it will probably take him a bit to work up the courage to try going to church, but we are excited to work with him!
I went on exchange this week with Sister Bulson and we had a grand old time! Lost our car keys for a minute, but hey that's pretty normal for exchanges, something always happens! Plus she and I had a sweet comp study about the power and authority of our calling as missionaries! I found a bunch of cool scriptures about it, and then when she and I were discussing what we learned I had an epiphany in realizing that yes when we get home I will still have a strong testimony. I will still have my knowledge of the gospel and share it with others. I will still be a "witness"of Jesus Christ, and receive revelation concerning how I can help my friends and family. But that is different than being a "representative"of Jesus Christ. That is a special privilege that I get right now, during this dedicated time of my life, doing this specific work. And that is pretty dang cool!
Love yous!
