This week was full of a lot of door knocking! Haha which is fine, I haven't had to do too much of it in other areas and I know it is a part of the mission experience! I'm kind of terrible at it though...the words to keep them talking to us fly straight out of my mind as soon as they say they are not interested. Sister Gattud and I role play it almost everyday but it's a struggle! Fortunately I am pretty good at shaking it off and moving on to the next door. I figure it they are prepared, the Lord won't let my awkwardness get in the way of their salvation. However; I'm still hoping to learn a lot about what I can try do better on my exchange tomorrow with one of our awesome sister training leaders. We did find another prepared person this week through a media referral though! She seemed excited about everything we told her about the church and is planning to go this next week, and we were even able to find a less active in the area willing to give her a ride! Her name is Crystal and she says she has been needing God in her life! God is good :) Something I have seen proven in my mission so far is that if we are working hard the Lord will provide. We might spend all week knocking doors only to get a new investigator as a referral or some other way, but he does provide.
Thanksgiving was great! We had a Turkey bowl in the morning with the south half of the mission and the weather was beautiful! We were originally playing co-ed, but I don't really enjoy never touching the ball so I convinced all the sisters to ditch the elders and start a game of our own! It was a blast! I was ridiculously sore for the next 2 days and I'm sure Sister Gattud was sick of my moaning and groaning, but it was totally worth it!
That evening we had a wonderful dinner with a couple in the ward. It was a far more humble setting than I am used to, paper plates and all, but that just made it all the more meaningful. We truly have so much to be grateful for.
We had an experience this week that I won't go into too much other than to say that it reminded me that Satan is real and has as much power as we give him. It was an experience that brought Ephesians 6:12 to mind. But the most important thing I learned from that experience is that God is all powerful, light will always triumph over darkness. We know what the final result of this contest is going to look like, it is just a matter of choosing to be fully on His team. It is worth doing what ever it takes to be worthy to have the Holy Ghost as our constant companion.
Thank you all for you love and support, I was really feeling the love this week and I appreciate it so much!
Love yous,
Sister McConkie
