I love this country of ours and am so grateful for the freedoms we
enjoy. Yesterday in fast and testimony meeting the bishop said
something I thought was really interesting. He said "the most
patriotic thing we can do is keep the commandments" and then he
referred to some of the verses in the Book of Mormon that talk about
the prosperity that follows obedience. And it's true! The more people
are following the Lord the more blessed the land will be!
We had another MLC this week. My last one! Between me putting in my
two cents on the various things we were discussing and the Taggart's
pointing me out as an example, I feel like everyone was probably sick
of hearing from me by the end! President made me stand up as an
example of someone who has gained a lot of confidence throughout my
mission, and then made me keep standing there as he talked about some
other things...for me it was just a reminder that my confidence hasn't
come so far as to feel comfortable with that! It was a really good
meeting though. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a
Sister Training Leader because the Lord has used to be an instrument
in His hands by serving so many incredible Sisters and supporting them
in their work. It is true that the Lord can use the weak and simple to
accomplish miracles.
Last night we meet a really cool lady named sister Johnson. She is
actually a former relief society president in this ward. In the past
there were some things with the way the Church works that she didn't
approve of, and she ended up staying away for a lot of years. I don't
know if she is ready to fully return yet, but we are sure going to try
to help her! It was a reminder to me of how diligent we need to stay
in maintaining our testimonies so that one relatively small thing
doesn't end up derailing all of the other things we know to be true.
(Mosiah 4:30)
I don't know what tonight is going to end up looking like as far as
celebrating the 4th of July. Our mission president gave us permission
to stay out a little later as long as we are with members and they
give us a ride, but we haven't been able to figure out a way to take
advantage of that...so it may be a pretty slow night, but that is ok!
Maybe I will just study 1 Nephi 13 and call it good :)
Love yous!
