Saturday Sister Wood and I got a call Saturday from the assistants
letting us know that she and I were both getting transferred, aka
doubled out! That was totally unexpected! I had thought that I might
get transferred, but we though Sister Wood would definitely be staying
because she has only been here for one transfer! But alas, not so. At
that point they didn't really tell us much more than that we were both
getting transferred and that we would both still be Sister Training
Leaders. We didn't know if we would be staying companions and getting
doubled in somewhere together, or if we would be going different
places, we just knew we had to prep to leave by Tuesday!
Last night president Taggart did a conference call with the whole
mission and read who would be companions with who and what area they
would be in. Turns out Sister Wood and I are staying together and
going to Scotch Plains! This is my 4th time getting doubled out of an
area, my 3rd time getting doubled in, and my 2nd time getting doubled
out and doubled back in with the same companion! It is nice though
because I won't have to get used to a new companion and Sister Wood
has already served in that ward, just in a different area within it,
so she will be able to help me get to know the members!
I have heard very good things about that area, so I am excited to get
to spend my last 6 weeks there and accomplish whatever I can! Plus it
sounds like they have a washer and dryer in that apartment! I haven't
had that my whole mission so I am excited to not have to spend half of
PDay in the laundromat any more :) I will really miss this area. I'm
grateful that we got a little heads up about the transfer so I was
able to get pictures with quite a few of the members yesterday. I love
these people so much! I have had three different companions in my
three transfers in this area and so there are a lot of different
memories here, and so many good times!
This week I got to go on two exchanges. First with Sister McAllister
who happens to be an STL in another zone, but hey sometimes STLs need
an exchange too! And then I finally got to go on exchange with Hermana
Lexi Millington, it was the last weekend of the transfer, but better
late than never! She is a new missionary just finishing up training,
but she is incredible. You can tell she came into the mission
extremely well prepared. We had a great time teaching Spanglish
lessons haha! Last summer when I was surrounded by people speaking
Spanish 24/7 my comprehension had gotten pretty fair, but now most of
that is gone and I still can't speak a lick of Espanol! She did open
up to me about something she is having a hard time with, and I was
very grateful to have earned her trust and to be in a position to help
somewhat. It was a good reminder to me not to assume that just because
someone seems to have it all together that they aren't struggling with
anything. Life is easy for none of us, but it would be helpful if we
could all learn to at least be kind to ourselves!
Sorry this is a little long!
Love yous!
