This week's subject line comes from my ponderize scripture from last
week. 1 Nephi 17:13 talks about how the Lord is the light that guides
us through our lives as well as the one who prepared the path for us
to travel. As we keep the commandments we are able to obtain the
promises he desires to give us, and when we pay attention we will see
that it is by him that we truly are led to every blessing.
It has been a great week here in Sparta! It is so beautiful here. We
spend a lot of time in the car because everything is so spread out,
but I would far rather be driving on these beautiful country roads
than spending that time in traffic and looking for parking! We even
saw a black bear yesterday! It was pretty sweet!
The family history packets have proven a very effective way to get in
people's homes and actually talk to them. It is hard because we have
to focus on family history, rather than just teaching the gospel,
since that is the reason the let us in, but it is getting people who
would normally slam the door to have some kind of relationship with
missionaries as well as going to the church building for the family
history center. I think a lot of success will come from this, it just
probably won't be while I am here to see it.
It has been such a blessing for me personally to learn so much more
about family history work. There is great strength in learning about
these incredible people who have gone before me and played a role in
the life I live today. It makes me even more eager to meet them in
heaven because I have spent time getting to know them.
